In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world.
Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains. The book recounts a harrowing adventure, but ultimately it is the nobility of these men and their indefatigable will that shines through.

Wow. Buy this audiobook!
I have listened to 53 audiobooks since December 2020 and the Endurance has surpassed all previous books that I have enjoyed. I didn’t know if I would enjoy this book because it isn’t my usual type of book but I swear to you, you will not be disappointed. I finished the book in record time and cried at the end. Fabulous performance by Simon Prebble.

“Endurance” ... “Mans” struggle to survive in the face of unbelievable adversity.
So captivating. So glad I chose this one.
Well written and the audio narrative was superb.

Incredible
This book teaches a valuable lesson about leadership, manhood, and endurance. The men in this book overcome nearly impossible feats and eventually beat the Antarctic once and for all.

Wild story, great narrator!
If you feel like you're having a bad day, try this story on for size! A little dismal as it's one bad thing after another, but the narration and pace are great. tremendous listen.

Courageous and uplifting
Every man on that expedition was brave beyond anything I could imagine. I was continually thinking “I would never survive”. What these men endured was beyond anything fiction or the movies could dream up. I could also see the hand of God, when all seemed lost. I will try not complain when something in my comfortable life doesn’t quite go to plan. It would have been a privilege to have met just one of these men.
